Test Server – CPU & Motherboard

Yep, if I could go back into early childhood, one of the things I would want to teach myself is surfing. Definitely. Still time I guess, who knows.

Hope you enjoy this chill as we look at a couple of parts I'm thinking of for a simple test server.

AMD 5700G

This is an 8 core (16 thread) CPU that I'm thinking of using because it has an included graphics processor. This is important if I move the system into a thin rackmount case later (although I have a tower case to use for now), because a 2U case wouldn't really have room for a discrete GPU.

I'm pretty sure the performance would be enough for my needs since I'm only using it as a test server, just during the development phase.

X570 Pro CSM

This motherboard has 6 SATA ports (likely more than I'll need during testing phases) and is simple enough that it sort of makes sense. Although I could go with a B550 board instead, this board seems to have a few more features that might come in handy down the line as well.

If you were setting up a simple test server at home, nothing fancy, what would you guys use?
