Server Development – Software

Orchestral Vibes 😎

Brand new week and a whole new wave of goodness ahead. Hope enjoy this different kind of ambience track, and that your week has started off well with you looking forward to lots of progress.

Let's start this week off by looking at plans to put together my testing server. Software considerations first...

Ubuntu Server Training

Since I have been running an Ubuntu desktop OS for some time now, the logical first step was to consider running Ubuntu server when the time came. At this stage, it still looks to be the main contender. I haven't had much time for the Ubuntu learnings if I'm honest, and these will have to be done first because the Ubuntu server doesn't use a GUI.

Securing Linux Servers

There are also some basic considerations for securing Linux servers in general, and to the left is a short demo of some of the things that should be done right away once a Linux server is deployed. There are other things too, but these steps are easy enough to understand and complete early on.

Debian Alternative

Even though I'm basically a complete new-comer to Linux, I know enough to realise that Ubuntu isn't the only option for Linux servers. Debian is another commonly referred to system. I'll need to try and gather more info on the different options and pros/cons for each. I might even test more than one to see how things progress with each.

First though, I have to start with basic commands in terminal 😉

Stay awesome,

EMH
