The All-Important Mellow 😎
Just finished another quick test of my idea for absolute positioning of interface elements, and about to take a bit of a break after finishing a few work sessions today. Here's another of Chill Music Lab's awesome mixes to set the mood for this quick update, as we see the latest my end 🙂
UI Elements In Series
The main point of the last testing session was to make sure the idea I initially had for the UI could potentially work. So I sat down and basically tried to apply the idea to the 'get dimensions' method from the previous post. The goal was simple: bind the location of the button to half of the width and height of the window (i.e. roughly in the middle of the page).
The importance of this approach for me goes beyond the simple placement of objects. It also helps to improve the re-usability of the UI elements without the need to have things stacked a certain way, which is the case in the current testing interface where I used tables to set layout.
Moving to a new style of UI, like the one in the capture to the right here, will require this flexibility. The absolute positioning of elements should also help deliver a more consistent feel to the MOOVPAD Web App across different devices and screen sizes.
But hey... what do I know? 🙂
Stay awesome,
