The Settlements
Atop one of the higher peaks, exhausted from your days of searching the region, you come upon it. You thought it was going to be your end. Out here at the edges of the Maylor, you would never know that the city of Gell is close by. You wouldn't think that anything could thrive on Ximar 9 with it's constant electrical storms disrupting communications and destroying equipment. Look at what they did to your cruiser.
And yet there are the settlements. Although you only see a few, you know there to be many others masked by the fog. That damned dust that gathers on everything. Will they have provisions to spare? Do they know the way?
Regardless, you must find it.

Rendering
Rendered in Blender, the process began with a simple plane which was then modified with a Displacement as shown in the left image. The shader graph was then used to apply textures and colouring to the contours. Finally, the lighting and camera were set up to capture and highlight areas of the topography.
As for the story, we will find out together 😉
