Completed Character Basemesh

Late night creative tasks done and dusted for another week. Hope you guys enjoy this melody as we take a look at the completed basemesh for the first male character rig, done as a purely learning exercise and the first to be ready for retopology in the next stage.

The Concept

The main purpose of doing putting together this character rig was to learn the basics of how a basemesh for characters is built from the very beginning. Having tried a few different approaches now, I think I will keep using the sculpting method in high-poly form. Although this first attempt took a long time to share, the actual work time on it was not that long overall.

Next Stage

Before going on to begin the next basemesh, I want to complete the retoplogy on this one first. That will help me see what's involved in taking a character like this through to completion (with another couple of steps still to come: the details of the character and the rigging of the bones).
