Switching To PostgreSQL DBMS

This weekend, before getting into the actual coding, I'm using the time gained by getting the MOOVPAD Pro workspace stage done early, to start using PostgreSQL and the UI tool pgAdmin4 for managing the DBMS, as well as some other important tasks for running this on different platforms and security considerations. Although I could have left all this until later, I though it was a good opportunity to build the MOOVPAD Pro Desktop app code using these tools from the beginning, to compare to MS SQL Server.

My work has so far been developed based on the MS option for DBMS. However the PostgreSQL alternative appears to be generally accepted as a robust option by the industry, much less costly since it is open-source with no ongoing licensing fees, and at least from my early impressions, doesn't seem to be difficult to use. So... win win 🙂

Stay awesome,

EMH

HOW MOOVPAD IS BEING BUILT

For the overview of how MOOVPAD apps are being developed, the reasoning behind particular decisions during development, policies, and more in relation to all the technical things, please see the link to the left.

This will be an ongoing work in progress, and will always be linked to the bottom of each upcoming Blog post.
