New Week 😎
Monday, and the week ahead looks to be busy but productive. I'm going to have a bunch of sideline work on for the next few days, although tomorrow will be a good MOOVPAD development day. So I thought I'd start this week with an overview of some of the different elements of the project as we enjoy this awesome extended mix from U:Fourier UK 🙂
Desktop & Mobile Apps
Even though they're not the primary focus at the moment, the coding work being done on the web app is also directly benefiting these desktop and mobile full apps. That's because the improvements I'm making through the web app code will be passed on to the class library that these main versions will be using as well. And as we'll see below, the other elements all either directly or indirectly deliver benefits to these main projects as well. Generally speaking, these desktop and mobile apps are likely to be a focus again within the next few months.
MOOVPAD Web App
This project is actually a double shot, as it covers both the MOOVPAD v2.0 website with all the necessary content (yet to be brought across) and the web app with actual functionality that is the current focus of development. I've been posting progress of this work recently and will continue updating with gradual reporting on milestones.
Writing & Publishing
With the first book's manuscript completed, and a start made on the second of the PAPE series books already, these elements are progressing gradually but well. There isn't a lot of pressure to complete all of the series just yet because of the way the feature sets will be rolled out across the apps. However finishing the first manuscript has helped provide a useful template to save time on things like formatting.
PAPE Courses
This content is much easier to put together since the first PAPE 'FS-SE Jog & Run' book is complete, and I can bring the main body of the course in from that manuscript. This project is also moving along well, although I've been making it a secondary focus item for a couple weeks while I put in more learning time into the MOOVPAD web app.
Kickstarter Campaign
As all of the above elements continue to come together over time, this Kickstarter campaign is looking more promising in terms of it's content (the things I can control). The success of the campaign though... that isn't something I can control, but I will give it my best shot and keep my fingers crossed that I've done enough to put these elements forward in a positive way.
Creative Projects
As I'm sure you guys can imagine, I've had to reduce the time I spend on the creative tasks. For the next little while, these will unfortunately need to be tertiary focal points and used mainly as a break from all the above work. As much as I'd like to spend more time on the UI design for all the apps, there is greater pressure to complete the stuff above now.
Overall Picture
It may have seemed over recent months that work has slowed down, but as we can now see from the brief overview of some of the elements (and these aren't all of them), it has actually been a very productive time. The main issue getting in the way over the last 6 months or so... sideline work that is almost a full-time gig. Frustrating, but necessary.
Wish me luck with staying sane 🙂
And I'll hopefully catch up with you all again soon.
Stay awesome,
EMH
