Blender Update – 21.09.25

...Or Early Morning 😎

Hope everyone is having a great day/night as always, with the right vibes, while I share the latest bit of progress on the first Blender character's head using only low-poly techniques. You'll see what I mean below.

Here we go...

Major Features Roughed In

I've now reached the stage where I'm content with the skills I've been learning so far, and although the current head doesn't look perfect and there are still a couple of loops on the face that I need to adjust, the process has taught me quite a lot about low-poly modelling. Really it's about manipulating individual vertices, edges and faces of the mesh.

However there is another technique that I want to try and will probably feel more natural to me. I want to learn the Blender sculpting techniques. The professionals use drawing tablets for this kind of thing but I will be trying things out with a regular mouse method. I'm still not sure whether I will start from scratch again or continue working on the current head. The tutorial below actually starts from the very beginning, which might help improve my skills as I learn the new (to me anyway) sculpting techniques.

It's been great updating you guys on progress throughout the night, and right now I'm off to take a break and then get back into some coding later before we catch up again.

Stay awesome,

EMH
