Bass Vibin' 😎

Here's one of those tracks that you know is gonna set you right for whatever the night brings.

Let's check out what I've learned tonight about Unity as we vibe, shall we? Here goes...

Unity HDRP

The High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) in the Unity Engine is pretty impressive. As you can see from the screenshots of a template starter scene, the lighting effects are vastly improved over the standard rendering pipeline. The lighting interacts with materials and textures far more realistically. Scenes like this are not difficult to setup since materials are easily imported and lighting simply adjusted.

Creative Options

Obviously the creative opportunities are quite vast in terms of being able to set up any environment and have high quality rendering produce quite realistic imagery. And so for things like game development on PC and consoles, using the HDRP is a big step forward for creators working with Unity.

Drawbacks

The main drawback at the moment is the fact that HDRP is not supported on mobile devices. This means that an environment that gets created using HDRP is currently restricted to desktop or consoles. This limits its current usefulness to a project like MOOVPAD, but I expect this will change in the not too distant future since the Unity team appears to be working on incorporating support for mobile platforms.

Next Up

Yes, I did make bounce bounce things in Unity too, but that didn't seem as impressive as sharing the HDRP content (although, tbh... I MAKE BOUNCY!!!! 😜 ).

For now though, its back to coding for the next little while and I'll update you guys on progress soon.

Stay awesome,
