Learnings
The Unity Learn journey is going along pretty well. The tutorials/lessons are very well structured and easy to follow, and there are clear learning pathways to follow depending on your specific needs.
So if you hesitate to try because it's new, then that's the best place to start.
Paid Assets
Now although I'm developing my own assets from scratch, there's also the option to simply purchase some pre-built assets from the Unity store. The things available in the range are too many for me to summarise here, so if that's something you're interested in, I just wanted to mention that it's an option that's available.
MOOVPAD's Approach
I have chosen to learn the 3D modelling in Blender and scripting processes in Unity for several reasons. Besides my genuine interest and enjoyment in creating 3D models for myself (especially my vwum vwwuuuummmm 😀 ), there's also someting to be said for starting the learning process from the ground up. The knowledge gained through this process is often very useful downstream as it helps inform production decisions.
There's also the idea of needing very specific items for the MOOVPAD apps that need to be purposefully tailored for the particular functions they need to perform.
If there were a big rush to get these things finished to a tight deadline, then I might have considered using pre-built assets or sought collaboration with a professional with the necessary training. In my case, I have the time to go through the learning and work personally.
Next Up
To round off today's activities, I will be addressing a topic that has affected me personally and many people I know. MOOVPAD will be deliberately including anti-bullying policies into our CSR program for a lot of reasons. In the next post, I will share some of my own experiences as well as strategies for dealing with bullying situations. I will also apply a strategy live, with you guys, so that you all know that I practice what I preach. Otherwise it might be said that I expect courage from you but shy away from demonstrating it myself.
