More Creative Chill 😎
I like to share the vibe of the moment with you guys as I write and work on my projects, because very few things convey mood as well as music does.
So I hope you enjoy this mellow track, and let's see the progress happening...
Modelling the Eye-Sockets
I have tried to capture some of the major stages reached during each phase of the process so that you can see the type of work involved. Of course with stylised characters it's a little easier perhaps, but the same process applies albeit less finicky when it comes to the detail work.

With the shape of the skull fairly complete, I then moved on to modelling the eye sockets and detail around the eyeballs. As you can see, the low-poly faces were deleted and new faces/edges/vertices were progressively added manually one at a time, to get the curvature around the eyes to be as close as possible to what we might expect when looking at them up close. While the aim isn't to reach ultra-realistic levels at this early stage, I still wanted something that would look reasonable up close.
Once the basic details of the eye sockets were worked out, more work was then done to shape the brow a little better and start to form the right ridges for the nose and so on.
There's still more work to be done in these areas, but I wanted to get a better start on these for later on when their detail needs to be added. Again with stylised versions, this part is more relaxed.

The other thing to keep in mind is that when the surfaces/faces are adequately shaped in low-poly mode like we see here, smooth filters are added to the surfaces to then remove all the little edges and pointy bits that you'll notice in the images.
With the area around the eyes looking OK for now, I'll leave this project here for the night and pick it up next time.

As always, it's been great catching you guys up on all the progress, and I'll see you again tomorrow hopefully.
Stay awesome,
EMH
