Enlightened Futures 😎
Since I had some time for more creativity, I turned up the chill and just... vibed.
Here's another great track that I hope you all enjoy, and let's see what the progress has led to while the tunes play.
LIGHTSABERRRRRRR
You thought I forgot the VWUM VVWWWUUUUMM, or gave up on it because of the UV unwrapping gone wrong. Nope, just seeing what works and what doesn't. And while I still don't know why the UV unwrap doesn't work properly, I'm pretty sure it's a setting that needs changing.
Even with the most basic meshes, after just being created and with absolutely no changes made to them at all, the UV unwrap doesn't seem to want to cooperate when playing around with rounded objects like cylinders or spheres.
Nevertheless, I tried a few different approaches to make the best of the outcome, and the results are below. The first image is fully rendered with all textures applied.

Primary Texture File
This is the texture file I downloaded for this project. As you can see, it's a metallic type with a panel structure and slight variation among the panels in terms of tinting. In the final render image above, it is actually this same texture file applied to both the floor plane and the handle of the lightsaber itself.
The differences between the two are due to changes in the application of the texture in each case. You can see on the handle that the UV unwrapping the wrong way has distorted the effect, but I chose to keep it as I kind of like it to be honest. Kind of adds a little touch of interest (or maybe that's just me compensating for the UV thingy... not sure 🙂 )
In the two images below you can see the initial stages from last time where the main design was set, except I manually separated the saber (blue) part out and then applied different effects to it so that I could get the glowing to look right.
If I change anything to this particular design in the future, I might just taper the end a little. I just saw that while posting now. But I can leave that for another time, perhaps when I actually use it in a scene or something just for fun.

And with that, ladies and gents, I'll leave you for the night with well wishes, and hope to catch up with you tomorrow.
Stay awesome,
EMH
