Combined Experience & Science

In the last post, we looked at some of the basic, essential data that would be useful for the MOOVPAD apps to consider when it comes to individual users, whether these are professionals or general app users. However there's another immense scope of information that needs to be considered. What does the current (and in some cases, historical) evidence suggest?

Having now completed the search algorithms portion of the introductory course above, I now have a better understanding of some of the considerations of how these can be applied not only for their literal name implication (i.e. finding things), but also in a broader sense for things like potential outcomes from specific training options and so on. And the need to get the heuristics and evaluation methods right. But there's also the need to consider what the evidence from scientific literature can provide, and of course the search algorithms can be useful here too. The next section of the course covers knowledge.

I know from personal experience that if I had stuck purely to the science already published, and ignored my own intuition and experience, I would never have arrived at the need for change and the PAPE framework would not exist. This in no way means the scientific evidence can be ignored. It just means that a good practitioner needs to have access to, and be knowledgeable of, the current evidence, and then be able to apply their own experience. And the next section will be important for me towards developing the MOOVPAD apps for both professional and general users alike.

Back to it, and hope to have more progress soon 🙂

Stay awesome,
